House of Change. European Culture Congress. 8-11 September 2011

Krytyka Polityczna (Political Critique) will organize a series of artistic events that will take place in Dzieduszycki Family Mansion, at Kampinoska Street in Wrocław. A café and a Krytyka Polityczna Publishing House bookstore will be operating in the house. Anna Kołodziejczyk and Michał Bieniek from ART TRANSPARENT Contemporary Art Foundation will be curators of the ‘House of Change’ exhibition.

The idea behind “House of Change” is to use the interiors and overall feel of the Dzieduszycki Family Villa to construct a fictional narrative. Artists from Wroclaw will enter the Villa space with their creations, blurring the boundaries between that which could be found in the building already and that which was added as part of the project. “House of Change” intentionally misleads the viewers’ attention and plays with that which is left unsaid in a game where images, objects and installations serve as pointers and clues – traces left behind by (apparently) imaginary characters. The interiors and the garden grounds, filled with original objects as well as those placed there by the participating artists, all act as marks of history which happened or could have happened, as a record of events which could have taken place there.
