Spend a weekend away from the city and listen to talks about art and nature. On October 11–12, we invite you to Gorzanów Palace for a series of lectures on the art of Lower Silesia as part of the 15% Abstraction series, as well as nature-art activities under the project Beech, Beaver, Sponge. We’ll talk about the art of our region and take walks with contemporary artists to explore the Kłodzko land. Admission is free. Refreshments will be provided on site. A one-hour train ride is a perfect opportunity to admire the autumn landscape.
On Saturday, October 11, Gorzanów Palace will host a forum from the 15% Abstraction series—an open space for gathering scattered materials and stories about the lives and works of Wrocław sculptors and ceramic artists, including Janina Szczypczyńska, Regina Konieczka, and the Skomorowska sisters. The day will feature four debates/lectures focusing not only on the historical contexts of these artists’ biographies but also on their legacies and influence on subsequent generations.
On Sunday, we invite you to a nature-art walk with the authors of Like a Sponge—artist Ania Siekierska and biologist Ania Albin. We’ll set off from Gorzanów Palace, situated by the Nysa Kłodzka River, on a field trip to explore how different beings participate in the water cycle. We’ll listen to trees and birds, observe leaves, and admire the work of beavers. Wear comfortable shoes—the walk will take about two hours.
A meeting with the co-authors of Like a Sponge: On the Water-Bearing Functions of Forests will offer a chance to discuss how we can act for the benefit of our shared forests, landscape parks, and other important wooded areas. Wiktoria Bendiuk and Marta and Andrzej, activists working toward the creation of Turnicki National Park, will join the conversation with Ania Albin and Ania Siekierska.
