Karolina Szymanowska was born in Wrocław. She studied Sculpture at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design, where she is currently employed. From 2014 to 2018, she served as a member of the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists. In 2021, she earned her PhD with research on the topic “Automata: Reflections on Discipline, Loops, Repetitions, and Fatigue.” She has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Poland and abroad.
She writes about herself:
“Although sculpture is the foundation of my practice, I work across various media. I am interested in art grounded in everyday life. I observe people and their surroundings and try to weave my works into this landscape. In my artistic strategy, I often use concepts illustrating collective and individual psychological processes. Loops, reflections, displacements — these are just some of the phenomena on which I base my activities. I am fascinated by organic adaptive processes — transformations and distortions that occur under the influence of abstract forces. In my latest works, I focus on the human being involved in technological progress and the costs of this complex interdependence.”
