Getting Dirty in the Shower is the title of both the exhibition and the painting from which Zofia started working on her latest show at the Mieszkanie Gepperta gallery. Like most of her paintings, the work escapes simple interpretations and meanings. Pałucha is an artist who, having the world literally at hand, on the screen of her laptop and smartphone, actually uses its complexity in her art. Her practice is characterised by non-linear and unapparent thinking. By using the contemporary language in painting, she evokes a peculiar combination of fear and excitement about the unknown. I like this fear so much because it carries a state of confusion and, when digested over time, opens up new areas in my head.

The more progressive and bold actions there are in the space of culture, the quicker we are to treat them as everyday life and the more our mentality changes. A rebellion against convention and unimaginativeness is a rebellion against nationalisms and all the diseases plaguing modern societies. Only those who create with a view to transforming the world actually improve it. They change how we view and evaluate reality, making us more open, sensitive and simply better.

Curator of the exhibition, Krystian Truth Czaplicki
