The project entitled State of Emergencyis an artistic reaction to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border. Artists Karolina Jaklewicz and Marzena Sadocha collaborated for the first time during the Polish Hospitality exhibition in 2019. The presentation critically analysed the myth of Polish openness by reflecting on the 2016 refugee crisis and the growth of homophobia and intolerance in Poland. After a few years, the problem has become even more acute. The violation of human rights and complicity in the death of refugees bother many people, including artists who act like seismographs, detecting all vibrations of the social fabric of the world. The exhibition will include a series of paintings by Karolina Jaklewicz, which is a reaction to the humanitarian crisis of recent months. A parallel part of the exhibition will be the premiere of the video State of Emergency by Marzena Sadocha, written in response to the refugee situation. Mariusz Bąkowski (actor of Wrocław Contemporary Theatre) will take part in the recording; written and directed by: Marzena Sadocha, camera: Michał Marek.
