As part of the DemArt IICCA project, the Szewska Gallery hosted an exhibition promoting the practice of democratic art commissioning, alongside selected initiatives by the Art Transparent Foundation that showcase ways of engaging local communities in cultural practices.
The aim of the DemArt IICCA program is to democratize the funding and commissioning of artworks by including local communities and addressing their cultural needs. The project seeks to draw the attention of local governments and other cultural institutions to the needs of the communities they serve.
For this project, Art Transparent collaborated with three commissioners selected through an open call. In turn, based on an open call for artists, the commissioners selected three project proposals for further development. After consultations with residents of Brochów, the commissioners chose one winning concept, specifically designed for the neighborhood, to move forward into production.
