Art Transparent and Nafasi Art Center launched an open call for artists interested in participating in a project supporting collaboration between artists and cultural practitioners from Europe and Africa. As part of this cooperation, a program of research residencies, video art creation, and the presentation and dissemination of works in partner countries was implemented.
The open call targeted artists working with video art forms, including animation, film, digital, and found footage, who were interested in creating new works within the framework of this project.

The open call was addressed to:

Artists working in the field of video art with documented artistic experience (works, exhibitions, projects, etc.),

Artists who are from or currently residing in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kenya, Poland, Rwanda, Slovakia, Tanzania, Uganda, or Zambia,

Artists with practical knowledge of the English language.
Residency offer:
Selected participants received:

A research residency in Tanzania for European artists (1–2 weeks),

A research residency in Poland for African artists (1–2 weeks),
-
Access to expert consultations in their chosen research area,
-
Opportunities to engage with local artistic communities through networking events and presentations,

A production budget to create a new video artwork,
-
Opportunities to present their work in Wrocław and Dar es Salaam.
Participant requirements:
Participants were expected to:

Be available during the scheduled research residencies (Tanzania residency for European artists took place in January 2024, the Polish residency for African artists is planned for June 2024),

Be capable of producing a video work within the agreed timeline,
-
Have documented experience in the field,
-
Communicate effectively in English, which is the working language of the project, with the option to create works in their native languages.
The open call was a success, and the selected artists have begun their residencies and video projects, which will be presented to audiences in the project’s partner countries.
